Dr. Steve Hankins, Lead Elder
Pastor Steve received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he
received a commission in the United States Army and achieved the rank of captain. His military career included graduation from the Army Airborne
and Ranger Schools, and assignments as a Tank Platoon Leader and Battalion Maintenance Officer. Following the military service, Steve worked in
various engineering and management positions in the pulp and paper industry. He started Chosen Systems Inc., an engineering and consulting company
for the printing industry in 1997.
Steve's salvation came as he read a Gideon Bible in a hotel room in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1983. Following his conversion, Steve served in churches as director of outreach, Sunday school teacher, elder, director of single adult ministries and interim pastor prior to receiving the calling to full time pastoral ministry.
Steve completed his Masters and Doctor of Ministry Degrees from Covington theological Seminary in 2004 and taught in their seminary extension. In 2004, Burkhalter Baptist Church of Savannah Georgia licensed Steve into the gospel ministry. In Savannah, he served as church planter/pastor of Ekklesia Savannah. While ministering as pastor of Ekklesia Savannah, Burkhalter Baptist Church ordained Steve in 2005. Steve later served as interim pastor at South Gardens Baptist Church prior to joining Seacoast Community Church as Pastor in 2009.
Steve Patton, Elder
Steve Patton was born in Boston and grew up in Massachusetts. He became a believer as a freshman in college at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He married Susan in 1990, and they had two children, Nicholas and Stephanie, born in Rhode Island. In 1998, they moved to New Hampshire, and Steve began working at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Information Security. Shortly after coming to New Hampshire, their family joined SCC. Steve has served as a deacon, finance director and elder in a variety of churches. He became an elder at SCC in October of 2011, and oversees the missions and outreach ministry areas.
Rich Richett, Elder
Rich Richett was born and raised in a suburb of Detroit Michigan. He came to recognize Christ as his Lord and Savior during his time at Chiropractic college. In 1977, shortly after graduating from college, he moved to the Seacoast of NH to set up practice which he continues at present. He married his wife, Twyla, at Seacoast Community Church in 1984. They have 5 children, and a strong belief in family and family ministry. Rich's passion is to foster a sense of community at Seacoast, using various events and activities such as the Summer with Friends, summer community events, as well as other venues encouraging Biblical fellowship. In his spare time, if there is such a thing, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking and trail riding. Rich also teaches adult Bible Study classes on Sunday mornings, and has a desire to see people grow and dig deeper into the Word.
Jay Smith, Elder
Jay Smith is a native New Englander, born and brought up in Ogunquit, Maine. He accepted Christ as Savior at the Ogunquit Baptist Church in 1962. After graduating from the Univ. O Maine, he served in the Navy for 26 years. On July 4, 1970, he married Jean and became the Dad to Jennifer and Courtney. For the last 20 years since his retirement from the Navy, he has worked locally for an engineering services company. He and his family joined SCC in 1990 and has served in various leadership capacities ever since. Jay is involved in various ministry areas and has a passion for teaching adults in a relaxed biblical study environment. He also is a trustee and has oversight of enhancing the physical appearance of the buildings and grounds. Jay enjoys men's ministry events, outdoor sports and has many and varied interests.
